Blogging and using the platform to earn enough money to allow yourself to live and work from anywhere can be fairly straightforward if you take the minimalist approach.
You can, without question, create enough value working only one hour a day to create an income that will support a frugal minimalist lifestyle. Everett spends two hours a day or less on work and is approaching the $100,000 income mark this year.
If your telling yourself right now that you don’t have an hour a day to devote to something like this, I’m calling your bluff. Sleep less if thats your only option. Or, ask me for permission if that’s what your waiting on.
A Straightforward Strategy
Work on creating one high value blog post per week, a couple hours working on a digital information product to sell, and a short time either crafting a high quality guest post, responding to an interview request, or helping out a fellow blogger. You should also spend a few minutes being useful on twitter and a short time answering email.
In addition to the following concrete, scheduled tasks I would carry a small pad of paper with me everywhere in my day to day life and think about the blog often, jotting down ideas throughout the day.
Day 1: Write blog post content (50 minutes) – share what your doing or something useful and re-tweet a couple people on twitter who are being useful (10 minutes).
Day 2: Write blog post content (1 hour)
Day 3: Finish blog post and set a time for the post to go live tomorrow (50 minutes) – share what your doing or something useful and re-tweet a couple people on twitter who are being useful (10 minutes).
Day 4: Respond to blog comments, answer e-mail, comment on a couple other important blogs in your niche, be useful on twitter (1 hour).
Day 5: Work on digital product/ebook (1 hour)
Day 6: Work on digital product/ebook (50 minutes)- share what your doing or something useful and re-tweet a couple people on twitter who are being useful (10 minutes).
Day 7: Work on digital product/ebook (1/2 hour or skip). Work on guest post, interview, or helping out fellow blogger (1/2 hour-1 hour).
Your Daily Effort WILL Create Something Substantial
After one year, you could have 52 incredibly useful, timeless blog posts for your readers to employ. Every 3-6 month’s you will be releasing a new digital product. Every month or two, you will be releasing a high quality guest post or interview to try and attract new readers. And you’ll a bit of time to support other people’s work that matters.
You won’t be wasting hours a day on twitter or checking email. You will be crafting your story. Creating value in the world. Creating something that inspires people to live better.

Hey, Nate- great site you’ve gotten started here! And this is a fantastic breakdown of how to allot a bit of time each day for productive tasks that will help build one’s blog. Can’t wait to see what else you’ve got comin’!
Spot on Nate. Doing the RIGHT things repeatedly is a foolproof recipe for success. As long as you show up and do the work, the results will manifest… most people are too impatient to stick with something long enough to start seeing the results.
Thanks Phil. Its crazy how much information we tend think we need to start something. We get so caught up in the noise. The real learning doesn’t start until we begin the DOing. And I’ve noticed that most things in life can be beautifully uncomplicated – even business creation.
Hey Nate, you are your own sage, don’t stop listening to your inner wisdom. Keep doing what you’re doing.
P.S Pls install the subscribe to comments plugin.
Thanks Phil, I’ve added the plug-in!
